Kollywood not only promotes movies and cricket; it also extends its support to other noble causes. At present, the stars of Kollywood are teaming up for such a cause. The Ministry of Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, has sought the help of Kollywood to create awareness on literacy through the vehicle of a documentary.
This documentary is going to feature Vijay, Madhavan, Suriya, and Jyotika. Ajith was very much keen on being a part of this noble project, but could not spare any dates because his call-sheet was already full. Other names associated with this documentary are Mani Rathnam, Rajiv Menon, Harris Jayaraj, ad filmmaker Roshni and ad film writer Thomas. Kodak is also associated with this documentary which is directed by Priya V. Ace cinematographer K.V. Anand is going to handle the camera work.
Suriya was very much thankful to Mr. Thangam Thennarasu, State Education Minister, for providing all the help required for the shooting - like logistics, statistics, police protection, and so on. One could not help but wonder at the actor’s social knowledge when he talked about the statistics of literacy (TN has 75% literacy, but the fully-literate comprise only about 40-50% of this figure). He was also all praise for TN Government, because these days corporation schools are on par with private schools. And all this quality education comes at a very low cost that is affordable by many.
Many may not be aware, but Suriya is already involved in promoting education through his Agaram Foundation.
