The past few days has seen a sudden spurt of Dasavathaaram pictures on several websites, especially those of Kamal Haasan's 10 avataars from Dasavathaaram. It has been confirmed by Aascar Films' V. Ravichandran during a special conference call with Galatta.com that these pictures have been loaded online without his or Kamal Haasan's knowledge or permission. He said that neither he nor Kamal Haasan nor Dasavathaaram's design firm, Mitrra Media, have given out any official images and hence, all these websites that have taken these pictures have violated copyright rules.
We all know how the entire team of Dasavathaaram has been extremely secretive and cautious about the publicity of Kamal's avataars in the media, as it was vital to keep the curiousity element alive. We also know that Siddharth Chandrashekar of Mitrra Media takes pride in his firm's integrity in keeping the most wanted and valuable imagery secret, no matter who asks for them. With this one incident alone, even some reputed websites have earned the annoyance and wrath of Aascar Films' V. Ravichandran, Kamal Haasan and Siddharth; and Aascar Films plans to take immediate legal action against these websites. The comparison is simple, in the words of this producer: Unauthorised acquisition and publishing of imagery from Dasavathaaram or, for that matter, any movie, without proper permission is the same as theft of copyrighted material and dealing in illegal/ pirated VCDs and DVDs; thus, similar action will be taken against these violaters too!
We would like to bring to the readers' notice that Aascar Films' V. Ravichandran and Mitrra Media's Siddharth Chandrashekar called Galatta.com FIRST to support them and put this directive out -- because we believe in ethics and legal courtesies in our work!
