Valmiki is a film directed by G. Anantha Narayanan, a debutante director with the confidence of an experienced director. Recently, he shed some light on his project. He said that the film has been named after sage Valmiki, for he found the name catchy and also there is a similarity between the sage and the protagonist of his film, Poonakann Pandi; Valmiki enriched the society by giving it a very grand epic, Ramayan and in this film Poonakann Pandi, the protagonist too contributes immensely to the society. The story of the film is based on that contribution by this protagonist.
Akhil of Kalloori fame plays the protagonist of this film. The female lead of this film is a new face to Tamil Cinema – Meera Nandan who had acted in Mulla, a Malayalam film. The third most important character of the film is played by Shruti Nair, a newcomer.
The film is slated to release during Deepavali this year.
