Vanakamna, the Saravanan film, was embroiled in a hullabaloo even before the movie got started.
Certain ultra Hindu organizations protested in front of the mahurat venue as the mahurat invitations had Saravanan posing as Lord Ram; they were protesting against desecration of Hindu gods in the invitations.
The movie was to have started shooting on Wednesday, but due to the protests, the mahurat was suspended.
Senior police officials visited the mahurat venue but there was no further trouble. The producer and director placated the protesters stating that they did not want to insult any faith.
