Vilaiyaathu is Aspro Films' maiden venture. Aspro Films is a production house owned by S. Kannan, a Tamilian living in Australia. Vilaiyaattu is the sport that fate plays on humanity.
Of the three main characters, Guru, the hero, is a drug addict. Aimlessly, he drifts into anti-social activities. Priya, the heroine, intends to work hard to fulfill her dreams... Vellai, the stereotypical criminal, is hunted across the country by the domestic police as well as Interpol.
Fate throws these three characters together in the film. Guru takes up his friends’ challenge that he can ‘get’ Priya at any cost. True to plan, Priya falls for him, hook, line and sinker. Though Guru initially plans to fool Priya, her true love completely changes his life and he too reciprocates. Vellai is the fly in the soup, lusting after Priya. The film tells you what happens thereafter.
First-time director Ezhilvendhan does some multi-tasking as the hero Guru, besides penning the story, screenplay and dialogues. Saranya of Kadhal fame is Priya. Pandiyarajan, Ganja Karuppu, Mahanadhi Sankar, Seema, Thambiraj and Andrew of Hollywood are the supporting cast.
Composer Joicy Gift handles the music, and cinematography is by D. Kannan. Veterans Suresh Urs and Vino Mirdat control the editing and art departments respectively.
