In the direction of Jayaraj, the upcoming movie Silnerangalil has Vincent Ashokan and Navya Nair in the lead. This movie is the first movie produced under the New Light Producions banner. The man behind the music is Srikanth Deva and he has done a fab job. His tunes are fresh and appealing, with two numbers composed in the 60’s style. The Silanerangalil songs are a must listen!
Embavai Embavai ...
In the voices of Senthil Dass and Raesmi, Embavai is an endearing melody that keeps you wanting for more. The ‘love’ in the lyrics, takes form in the fresh and expressive voices of the singers, and blend to form a captive piece of music. The beats in the background give the song the necessary pace, never slowing down for even a moment. The veena renditions in the interludes and the soft humming add an extra zing to the tune.
Pottu Vaitha...
Close your eyes and listen to this song and you’re sure to get a black and white picture of Devika and SSR shyly romancing in a garden or a park. 'Pottu Vaitha' transports you to the 60’s – the combined efforts of the singer, the lyricist and the music director of course. P Suseela’s evergreen voice and Srikanth Deva’s composition come together to give you a melody that would have been a sure fire hit in that golden era. Even today, the music is a treat to the ears indeed. In a time when it’s a trend to remix old hits, a beautiful composition that sings in the style of those old hits is a welcome experience.
Thirudapatte Nilavu ...
The song starts with a pounding and a very tribal sounding chant that wakes you up from the sweet sleep the previous melodies have gently lulled you into. This is a pacey number with heavy beats spread throughout the song. These beats combined with the touching lyrics and the moving voices of Hariharan and Chitra, establish a sense of urgency and desperation between two hurting lovers.
Pongudhu Pongudhu...
Another tune that takes you back three decades ago! In TMS Selvaraj’s voice and Srikanth’s music 'Pongudhu Pongudhu' is delightful song, which brings a smile to the face of the listeners. The lyrics are simple, yet beautiful. Again the music director has managed to impress.
Cell Phonai...
A peppy number in the voice of Suchitra, 'Cell Phonai' is the sensual quotient of this album. The lyrics and the rhythms are in stark contrast to the 60’s type melodies. The song is interspersed with a violin piece that adds spice to the already ‘hot’ song.
