Swathi Soft Solutions, a city-based IT company has brought out a collection of Vyjayanthimala's dance performances in DVDs. The two collections, named Aradhana, the Celebration of a Celestial Art and Sampradaya, the Touch of Tradition are first in the kind of digitalizing dance performances.
This would be a great step towards recognizing Vyjayanthimala's dedication and contribution to the art. Ms. Bali's contribution has always been in retaining its purity and core values and she is a role model to today's performers, remarked N. Ram, Editor-in-Chief, The Hindu, who released the DVDs.
Ms. Bali has an ardent passion for Bharathanatyam and a great sense of rhythm and Nrithya, added Mrs. Y.G. Parthasarathy, dean and director, Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Secondary Schools, who recieved the first copy.
The market demand existing for dance DVDs is proved, says Sujatha Vijayaraghavan, consultant for the making of the DVDs.
Even when she was at the highest point in her film career, Vyjayanthimala kept up her interest. She had attempted to revive the temple dance forms and made Bhakthi as her concept of performance. This set of 2 DVDs is the first step, a tribute to her efforts and contribution to the finest art form.
