Sathyam Cinemas is doing a very commendable job of bringing meaningful movies and documentaries to discerning audiences. Sathyam Cinemas regularly screens movies which create awareness about hurdles that hinder the society’s growth and also relevant current affairs.
Now, Sathyam Cinemas, in association with Accessible Horizon Films, is now bringing a documentary titled Wings of Evolution. It is a window to the revolutionary educational system of Siragu Montessori School, a school for homeless and underprivileged children located in the outskirts of Chennai. The Montessori system places emphasis on understanding concepts, implication of the concepts, and ways to implement these concepts in real life. It also advocates critical and lateral thinking.
The documentary calls for a change of the rote-based educational system that exists now in India. The efficacy of the existing educational system can be enhanced if the ideas of Siragu Montessori shown in the documentary are followed. Imagine the sea change it would bring about in Indian society, whose existing education system – though rote – is exalted by other countries.
The documentary also focuses on bringing together children from all over the world through a world-wide postcard-sharing workshop. It calls for children from all over the world to share their thoughts and ideas, thereby fortifying and expanding the knowledge of the makers of tomorrow. Result – a better tomorrow.
To understand the visionary Siragu Montessori better, watch the documentary.
