Bollywood may be way ahead of Kollywood with bold, innovative scripts, professional and corporate working processes and a bigger worldwide reach, but it looks like the glorious days of Tamil cinema and South Indian filmmakers are slowly coming back with some of the biggest names of Hindi cinema joining hands with Tamil filmmakers.
Yes, we are talking of the most famous Khans - Aamir, Salman and Shah Rukh - working with Tamil directors on their next movies.
As it stands, Aamir is currently shooting for the Hindi Ghajini with director A. Murugadoss, Salman is with Prabhudeva in the Hindi Pokkiri and Shankar is said to have signed up King Khan himself for his next movie. Rumour goes that Shankar's movie with Shah Rukh will have a budget of Rs. 100 crores and Shah Rukh is considering producing the movie himself under his home banner Dreamz. We hope Shankar will have a brand-new script with this film and effects that are not just gimmicks in such an expensive film.
Viveik Oberoi too is working with a South Indian filmmaker - he is slated to do the lead role in the Hindi version of 7G Rainbow Colony, directed by Selvaraghavan again.
We'll just have to wait and see how the Tamil flavour mixes with Hindi stardom at the box-office.
