There is much news floating around about the title track of Kaalai. Written by Simbu, this song is reportedly, actually a double track – one sung by the hero and one by the heroine in the movie. The female version has a small rap bit done by G.V. Prakash who wanted a new voice for the female lines.
So, Simbu suggested Mamtha Mohandas (who has already sung in a few Telugu and has even won a Filmfare award this year for a song called “Rakhee Rakhee”). This is the first Tamil song she has sung.
“Kaalai” is to be picturised with Vedhika and Simbu in Venice and Rome next month. The movie itself is scheduled for a Deepavali release.
