Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Sri M. Karunanidhi has seen and praised the film Onbadhu Roobai Nottu. He has congratulated the director as well as the actors who have worked for the film.
The novel bearing the same title, written by Thankar Bachan, bagged the Tamilnadu Government's Best Book Award in 1996. Several theses and projects have been made elaborating its theme. Onbadhu... has Sathyaraj as the legendary Madhava Padayachi, a character the whole book revolves around. Archana plays Velamma, the dutiful wife of the dignified Padayachi. Nasser dons the role of Khaja Bhai, another significant character in the movie and Rohini plays the role of Kameela, wife of Khaja Bhai. Thankar Bachan has written the realistic story based on the lifestyle of Tamilians.
CM's praise for the film is as much a feather in Thangar Bachan's cap as it is in the performers' – one they can always be proud to recall.
