In order to promote good cinema, Pyramid Saimira, one of the biggest names in the flm business, has come up with a very novel initiative. The company is organising free shows of the film Onbathu Roobaai Nottu all over Tamil Nadu. The 11 a.m. show across 100 of the best theatres in the state will screen the film for the audience free of cost on Sunday December 9th 2007.
Onbathu... directed by Thangar Bachan has Sathyaraj and Archana in the lead. The film chronicles the life of a rural family and their trials and tribulations. It is based on a novel written by Bachan.
The film which released last Friday, won a lot of critical acclaim for its realistic portrayal of life. Critics lauded the superlative performance of Satyaraj and showered praises on director Thankar Bachan in their reviews.
However, the critical acclaim has so far failed to generate any buzz at the box office.
The cast and crew of the film, including director Thankar Bachan, actors Satyaraj, Nasser, Archana and Rohini were present at the press meet organized by Pyramid to announce this laudable attempt.
The film has been appreciated in all cinema circles for its realsitic portryal of life. It is very nice to see corporates like Pyramid Saimira promoting such films.
