Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) members infighting has blown up and is now threatening to affect the daily functioning of the industry. With over 30 films worth several crores under production, all connected with the cine filed in Chennai pray for a quick and amicable solution.
The premises of TFPC had never before been sealed by the officials of the Madras High Court. The Nadigar Sangam supports the group of A.M. Rathnam, so TFPC is functioning from their premises. Satyajothy Thyagarajan, who was stripped of the president’s post by Rathnam, and his group, has approached the Chennai court, alleging that important documents were missing from the TFPC office. Subsequently, the case was withdrawn and the court affixed seals were broken by court officials.
Tamil Film Producer Council (TFPC) president Sathyajothy Thyagarajan has formally resigned from his post, sending the resignation letter to the council through veteran director K Balachandar, giving the ill health of his father as the reason for his resignation, and bringing cheer to the A.M. Rathnam camp.
A.L. Azhagappan, general secretary of the council said that all things have been sorted out following Thyagarajan’s resignation. Now they will continue their battle with satellite channels.
Meanwhile, TFPC has convened a meeting of the executive council to elect an existing vice president to succeed Thyagarajan. Rathnam appears to be the most likely candidate.
