Vikram participated in an annual event conducted by the Association of Chennai Registrar and Welfare organisation. The event is conducted to extend support and help for mentally challenged and destitute children. Sri Arunodayam, is also aprt of thsi venture. This organisation is chaired by Mr. Ayappan
The event is in its eighth year and it was celebrated on 21st of July at Kamaraj Auditorium, Chennai. Besides Vikram, ace composer Deva, Nallamuthu and Murugesan, Co-President of the association were also present.
The celebs placed the children Tamarai Chelvi, Sunithi, Jeyabharati and Emi on their laps and the children's ears were pierced. Extremely moved by the plight of the children, Vikram volunteered to accept a child's medical and educational expenses.
Also on the same day, 7 tricycles were distributed for physically challenged, 23 artificial leg attachments were given and 16 people were selected to receive vocational training.
There was a gala music event by Deva that was the highlight of the evening. Cultural activities of the children followed. Easwari, a blind girl, sang the song Konjum Salangai, and Thulasi, a blind boy played the flute.
Plans are being laid out for raising funds for physically challenged dancer-actor Kutty. The association is chaired by Selvi G. Sethukumari.
Vikram's effort was exemplary and it gave a peek into the actor's humane side too.
