The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, headed by it's President, Mr. R. Anand, The Madras Film Society, headed by Mr. Ramanathan, owner of Abirami Theaters along with Ernst & Young as knowledge partners organised a seminar titled "Indian Cinema - Winds of Change" today, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Hotel Park Sheraton, Chennai.
This seminar was sponsored by G.V. Films Ltd., Pyramid Saimira and Satyam Cinemas. The seminar threw light on relevant industry issues and trends such as corporatization, film financing, technological advancements, monetization of new media, piracy protection and offered a discussion forum bringing together members of the film fraternity.
Dr. Kamal Haasan was the guest of honour for the function in which the Chief Guest was the US Consul General, Mr. David Hopper (if you remember, he saw the first day-first show of Sivaji and enjoyed it). Actor Prashanth spoke on censorship and so did Director Balu Mahendra and Madhavan, show showed keen interest in the event attended both the inaugural as well as the valedictory and as usual shot from the hip with an insight into how the basic infrastructure of movie making needs to improve in order to really ride the winds of change into the future.
Kiran Reddy MD, Sathyam Cinemas, Neeraj Roy, MD and CEO, Hungama Mobile and Girish Ramdas, President Galatta.com also participated and presented papers on Multiplexes and monetization of new media.
