Galatta.com, south India 's #1 movie portal and online web magazine has created, designed and is maintaining an exclusive website for TANSACS (Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society) - http://www.aidsfreetn.com (now changed to http://www.tansacs.org ). Galatta.com, in collaboration with TANSACS, conducted special promotional activities to promote AIDS awareness among the general public by a contest named "The Learn, Win and Fly contest" on the occasion of this World AIDS day (1 st December 2006), using Internet and Mobile platforms. Galatta.com promotional campaigns included banner ads, mailers, online contests and SMS using the Galatta.com, Msn.co.in, Sify.com, Rediff.com, 58 city portals, leading movie and star websites (under Galatta.com) and BSNL. This saturated marketing campaign by Internet and Mobile generated a viewership exceeding 36.62 lakhs, of which over 4.71 lakh people have visited www.aidsfreetn.com during the campaign period from 1 st December 2006 to 5 th January 2007.
This mega campaign was to create increased awareness about HIV/AIDS among the youth, who form the high risk group for contracting AIDS and are also the major users of Internet. The contest, "The Learn, Win & Fly contest", was created in http://www.aidsfreetn.com . To enter the contest and be eligible for prizes, users were required to answer 10 questions correctly and also refer this contest to their friends. For every question, a clue was given by a link to the respective section in http://www.aidsfreetn.com .
The Bumper first prize for this quiz, a trip to Singapore for two, has been won by Mr. Arun Kumar from Madurai . The prize distribution will be held at Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society, #417, Pantheon Road , Egmore, Chennai - 600 008. The date of this function is not yet confirmed.
