Glamour girl Kiran is not quite happy playing the same glamour doll roles. Well, she is not exactly averse to glamorous roles and absolutely loves being glamorous, but she is exasperated at being offered the same type of roles which always explore her beauty rather than her acting skills.

To add to a Kollywood heroine’s woes, films here mostly have one hero and many heroines, which further reduces the value and screen space of an actress. So she has to work double hard to have an impact on the viewer. Agreed, this gives an actress the advantage of working in more than a movie at a time and earn more money, but when she reaches a saturation point in her career, the stressful lifestyle and exasperation of not having done meaningful work might even give her clinical depression!

At present, Kiran is acting in Vaada, Jaggubhai and Rajathi Raja. But Kiran is very sure to make an impact with whatever screen space is available to her; even if it is a glamour role, she is making sure to take it to new levels without dependence on sleaze. And the impact is quite obvious with her humungous fan base! Nalai Namadhe (where she plays a slum-dweller) assuages her frustration to an extent. She proudly asks us all to look out for a different type of Kiran in it and the shine on her face when she says it explains how desperate she is to try out different types of roles.

With changing times and trends in Kollywood, the day an actress gets her due share is not far away.
