For all those connected with movies, Hollywood is a paradise; touching its technical standards and reproducing its exclusivities remains everybody's goal. Experiencing all-round developments day by day, the industry has produced many stalwarts in all spheres of movie-making. Achamundu Achamundu, the thriller in Arun Vaidyanathan's direction has Hollywood's grandstanding. Entirely shot in the U.S., the film has roped in a crew of technicians as well as actors from the thriving Mecca of movies.
Achamundu Achamundu's entire story happens in America. Allocating value to the originality of its sequences, without yielding to any cinematic considerations, the story does not travel to any other place. Consequently, there are no song-and-dance sequences that appear disjointed from the main drama shot in different locales.
Achamundu... revolves around a family living in America and from their perspective, the problems faced by the non-resident Indians come into view. The film analyzes the merits and demerits of such a life and the double-identity as well as the everyday issues involved. Achamundu... talks about the anonymous immigrants adrift in the tumult of an alien country where neither associations nor work lasts forever as everything gets washed away by the waves of commerce and economical progress. Stranded in a dilemma of existence, these people continue to crave to return to their motherland. Then what holds them back? The reasons are many. Job, livelihood, living standards, children who see India as an unwanted place to go to, and the pressing need to upgrade their economical status are a few notable ones. There is also a considerable number who aspire and attain citizenship in the country of migrantion. Seeking to re-establish their roots and a sense of belonging, they try to build a virtual India in their respective destinations as a home away from their actual homes. However, the actual feeling of loss never lets them live satisfactorily and securely.
Prasanna and Sneha play the lead roles. With them and their problems at the helm, the film takes us through an emotional journey. In addition, there are also some scary moments in the film. Sneha was so impressed by the plot that she immediately accepted the role. Prasanna's daring role in Anjaathey brought him this opportunity. John Shay, an Emmy-award winner, has been cast as the villain.
Apparently, Achamundu... is the first Indian film to make use of Red One, a sophisticated movie camera. Music is very vital for a thriller movie. The re-recording and songs have to perfectly comply with its context. Karthik Raja has been given the challenging task of composing the music for Achamundu... And indeed, the senior Raja has proved his mettle. For about 45 minutes, an intriguing combination of his effective score and exotic sounds dominate the screenplay.
Achamundu Achamundu is the dream project for the U.S.-dwelling computer geek Arun Vaidyanathan. Fuelled by a passion to enter cinema, Arun finished the 'V Movie-making course' in New York Film Academy. His career started off with short films. 'Siyans', one of Arun's short films, won several accolades in U.S. film festivals. The experience gave him the confidence to proceed ahead; Arun's very next step was the launch of Achamundu... Not only is Achamundu... an outstanding movie, it has also tried to discriminate itself from the usual grind. Consequently, there is no kuthu song, no item number and no mindless violence in the movie.
"As a person who had always been looking for the Indian flavour in everything I come across, Achamundu is a translation of my black-and-white dream scenes into a colourful adventure. In all respects it will be a visual treat," guarantees Arun.
