Director Hari's films have somewhat similar story lines. Pure village subjects revolving around relationships are the backbone of his films. Onscreen, his film families are extended, comprising a band of distant and immediate relatives. In order to sprinkle more masala, Hari portrays them in a joint family set-up. A caring elder leads the family, takes decisions and guides them at times of distress and dispute.
"Living together is part of our age-old tradition. This practice is still kept alive in villages. Though family feuds are more pronounced and predominant in villages, they also give up bad feelings and quickly come for a compromise. My perspective continues to portray those down-to-earth people. That is why my movies make a strong impression and go down well with the B and C sections," says Hari, the top commercial director in Kollywood today.
If he repents for his mistakes committed by ignorance, any human being is bound to be forgiven. The turbulent youthful phase drives youngsters randomly. They do not stop to ponder whether their actions are right or wrong. After a period, when they slow down and look back, all their actions look like silly mistakes. Seval is the story of an ordinary young man who does not realize his true self and goes about behaving led by his whims and fancies. At a certain point in his life, a particular relationship induces a profound and permanent change in his personality. The young man begins to take control of his self and gradually tones down. Seval highlights the transformation of the hero from a prankster to a soft and polished person. Like in all Hari films, does the Seval heroine Poonam Bajwa parade across the screen in 'pavadai davani'? Does she dance with her two plaits bouncing?
"Yes; it indeed looks good. Isn't it? Pavadai Davani, Veshti and joint family have now become part of our long-forgotten ideals. My films just try and bring them back to the fore," says Hari.
G.V. Prakash's music for Seval too has a typical village touch. Each song is based on situations and the music travels along with the film's theme. Bharath and Poonam Bajwa play the lead roles with Simran in an important supporting role. From romance to action, it is a crucial step in the young hero's career. For Simran, it is a comeback not as heroine, but as a mature character artist. Vadivelu's comedy and character too will be an additional highlight in Seval.
Seval is all set to release during Diwali. Let us see its impact on the silver screen!
