After tasting success in Malai Malai, the Arun Vijay-Venkatesh duo is back with Maanja Velu, which is also reported to be an action movie. 'Maanja' is the mixture of glass powder, glue and other materials coated on the string of a kite. It is used to cut the strings of rival kites, but if handled wrongly, it can cut you. This forms the basic plot.

"Soon after Malai Malai was done, we did not sit around and wait for the verdict. Even when the movie was a hit, we did not bask in the success. We had already begun work on our next movie together. Director Venkatesh's visualization was one of the biggest assets of Malai Malai. That's another reason why I wanted to work with him once again," chuckles Arun, who is far from the menacing macho dude he plays in movies when you meet him in person! "There are a few surprises for the audience in this film. They will see me in a never-before-seen avatar that's sure to win their applause," he added.

Other highlights of Maanja Velu include actor Karthik's role as Arun's brother. Since the movie is releasing before Mani Ratnam's Raavan, we'll be getting to watch the fabulous actor doing what he does best way earlier than we had hoped! Prabhu also plays a supporting role.

Dhanishka, who debuted in Peranmai, plays Arun's love interest. Another asset are the stunts crafted by Kanal Kannan. Prabhu, Ganja Karuppu, Santhanam and others form the supporting cast. Mani Sharma's fast beat numbers are already popular.
