Actors Vijay and Ajith are already in the golden jubilee league -- their 50th films. Now superstar Suriya is also approaching his silver jubilee; his forthcoming release Singam is his 25th film. Today, when hardly any film runs for 25 weeks (silver jubilee) and many actors sink into oblivion after just a couple of appearances, these numbers assume great significance for actors. Suriya is one actor who likes to experiment with different get-ups on screen. Whether in Kaakha Kaakha, Perazhagan, Pithamagan or Vaaranam Aayiram, the actor has done everything with ease and panache. Having completed director Hari's Singam, he will also feature in RGV's much-hyped Raktha Chaitra, which marks his Bollywood debut.
Suriya's success spree is likely to continue with the Hari-directed Singam. And the duo is hoping for a hat trick after Aaru and Vel. Suriya dons the role of a police officer after Kaakha Kaakha and Hari directs this police story after Saamy.
According to Hari, Singam will have all the elements, including comedy, action and romance, that any Suriya fan would expect. Singam is produced by Studio Green's Gnanavel Raja and music has been scored by Devi Sri Prasad. Priyan handles the cinematography.
The story of Singam reportedly revolves around smuggling activities taking place in Rameswaram. Suriya plays a cop and the film will have all the required ingredients to keep audiences engaged without a lag in narration. Singam also has Anushka and Prakashraj in important roles. Vivek has been reportedly paid a whopping amount to provide the comedy element. The star cast includes Manoramma, Vijayakumar, Radha Ravi, Nasser, Sumithra, Yuvarani and Nizhagal Ravi.
So get ready for some action on May 28, 2010!
