Following the success of Chennai-600028, the same team, headed by director Venkat Prabhu, comes together again for Saroja. Chennai-600028, a film on gully cricket by a bunch of newcomers, tasted success and face high expectations from the public for this new venture.
So what is the theme of Saroja? Prabhu has chosen a thriller theme, with the narrative following the style of the Hollywood flick Babel. It is about one day in the lives of four youngsters, total strangers who bump into each other by chance, and how a single incident changes their lives forever. "One ordinary day when four ordinary men find themselves in an extraordinary situation!" goes the tag line.
These four guys, Mirchi Siva, S.P.B. Charan, Prem G Amaran and Vaibav are strangers with non-intersecting paths, till they meet. What brings them together? The four young men meet a stunningly beautiful woman in different situations. Trapped by her beauty and charm, they follow her and try to discover her background and other details. Each has a passionate craving to attain her and is ready to subject himself to anything for her sake. After they meet, they become friends. But do they come to know about each of their attraction for the mysterious Saroja? Do they collide or collude with each other for this mission?
Saroja, the mysterious beauty, is aware that they are attracted to her and takes full advantage of these fools. She tortures them and continues to play with their feelings, leading them the way she wants. And just when we think this is another light-hearted tale of youngsters being led astray, suddenly, a ghastly murder takes place. The victim? One of the four Romeos who are following her like puppies. Who is the culprit? Did one of the other three permanently eliminate his competitor? Or is it somebody else? Did the friendship survive the outcome? Or is it fractured forever? Wait for the movie to release and then find out.
Predictably, the murder changes the guys' paths and attitudes. Now, each of them wants to save his skin by exposing the others. The story spans across several cities, narrating events that take place in just one day. Premji is one of the major assets of Saroja. His impressive comedy provides a good dimension to the thriller story.
Prakashraj, who has an important role in the film, is quite happy with his character. His support and guidance have greatly added value to the film. Jayaram, who plays a cop in the movie, opines that this movie will be a milestone in his entire career. Vega, born and brought up in Australia, plays the title role. Music is by Yuvanshankar Raja; camerawork is by Sakthi Saravanan.
Like Chennai-600028, Saroja will also be a product of dedicated and passionate teamwork. The movie is scheduled to release in June this year.
