Ghatikudu, touted to be a complete entertainer with an extra dose of comedy, stars Suriya in a character with negative shades for the first time, which is one of the highlights of the film. In some portions of Ghatikudu, Suriya appears as a 10 year old. Yesteryears heroine Saroja Devi plays Nayantara抯 grandmother in the film. Suriya, a contract killer, enters Saroja Devi抯 family to take revenge on the household but ends up in becoming the owner. Vadivelu plays Saroja Devi抯 cook.

Suriya and Nayantara first appeared together in Ghajini, although not as a pair. But this time around they will be seen as a romantic pair in this K.S. Ravikumar film. Post the success of Veedokkade, Suriya once again dons a completely commercial role with interesting facets.

Ghatikudu has all ingredients of a commercial film like action, love, comedy and sentiments. The film has musical score by Harris Jayaraj.
