It is comparatively easy for a star-kid to make it big in cinema compared to a fresher with no links or godfathers in the industry. Vijaya Chiranjeevi (son of Jaguar Thangam, the popular stunt master with a formidable reputation) is the hero in Sooriya with story, screenplay, dialogues direction by (you guessed it) Jaguar Thangam! With a role that gives him ample scope to present the best of his talent, his performance has immensely satisfied his father.

Sooriya (Vijay Chiranjeevi), a na飗e youth comes from his village to Chennai with dreams of becoming a hero in Kollywood. Residing in a rented apartment, he tolerates and overcomes many difficulties and inconveniences to achieve his goal. He becomes friendly with Jyothi (Keerthi Chawla) residing in the adjoining residential block. Their casual chats and friendship predictably develop into mutual affinity, then love.

While travelling, Sooriya spots a dying man alone on a deserted street. Good Samaritan Sooriya tries to help the stranger, but is unable to save his life. The dying stranger hands over a CD to Sooriya.

Mystified and stunned, Sooriya keeps the CD, clueless about what to do next. But after he gets the CD, a bunch of menacing thugs keep chasing him wherever he goes and his life is in danger. What happens next? Does Sooriya manage to escape from the dangers he faces? How does he confront them? What dangerous information does the CD contain? Does Sooriya live long enough to hand over the CD to the police? What does he finally become - a reel hero, a real hero or just a forgotten unclaimed body? There is a whole lot of action and masala that unravel in the ensuing portions of Sooriya. Don't miss it!

Perfect hero material in terms of physique and performance, Vijaya Chiranjeevi does extremely well in the stunt sequences. The director has provided many long stunt-oriented scenes to showcase Vijaya Chiranjeevi's talents and skills. We get to see almost all kinds of martial arts and droves of stunt artists in Sooriya. However, the film lacks the punch and heroism required from a full-fledged hero and Vijaya Chiranjeevi looks too young to do it all. Heroine Keerthi Chawla does nothing more than romancing the hero.

Sooriya has proved to be the appropriate launch pad for stunt master Jaguar Thangam's son Vijay Chiranjeevi. But the story lacks polish; so the script and screenplay lack lustre. To shine as a director, Jaguar needs to do a lot of homework. Music is by Jerome Pushparaj.

Sooriya, a ticket for Vijay Chiranjeevi's entry to glamorous tinselville, aptly serves its purpose.
