Aindhaam Padai is the latest product from Sundar C.'s stable. This small budget film falls under the 5 to 7 crore bracket. Sundar C. has strengthened his action hero image and the film is a sure shot success in B and C centres. The success of Aindhaam Padai is a pointer to his future.
Sundar C. has appeared in six films as hero and four have tasted success; Aindhaam Padai should be an additional feather on his cap. This film about a close-knit family a small town is a mass entertainer laced with lot of action and commercial ingredients.
Sundar C., Nasser, Vivek, Mukesh and Nagesh are brothers living together in a close-knit joint family; they face a lot of trouble due to the evil designs of Devasena (Simran), whose family has a long-standing bitter feud with them.
Since it is a Sundar C. film, the expected happens. Vivek excels in his character as Thaanthoni in this complete entertainer. There are plenty of laughs and action, as Sundar C., who plays the role of Prabha, beats up all the baddies and wins them over.
With Nasser and his four siblings on one side and the villains headed by Dhanushkodi on the other, the feud only gets worse. Problems arise and the situation worsens when Dhanushkodi's younger brother is killed accidentally in a standoff between Nasser and Dhanushkodi. In the process, Kalpana (Devayani) loses her mind.
Just like the Pandavas in the Mahabharatha, Nasser and his brothers join hands and support Prabha who fights all issues with Dhanushkodi. All five brothers are united and good-natured, but Devasena, niece of Dhanushkodi, marries one of the five brothers and tries to create a rift in the family. A Bharatanatyam dancer, she seeks revenge against Prabha who refused to marry her. Prabha meanwhile falls in love with Gayathri (Aditi).
How Prabhakaran outsmarts his sister-in-law and hoodwinks the villains forms the remaining part of the story. Simran proves she still has the fire in her to perform a strong character role and excel in every frame. There is also a Simran number which evokes nostalgia.
A good entertainer with a very exciting climax, Aindhaam Padai closes with all disputes coming to an end in the family and all is well, ending well on a happy note!
Vivek once again deserves special applause as he keeps the interest alive with his one-liners and instant jokes which raise energy levels. Debutant Adhiti has given a neat performance and is sure to have many more films in her kitty soon.
We are constantly refreshed by a line which Vivek utters throughout the film: "Don't worry, be happy!"
Aindhaam Padai ends with a perfect message.
