Dharmapuri, a formula film of Vijaykant, portrays him as a good and honest man who fights for the welfare of his village people. The story revolves around Sivaraman (Vijaykant), son of Meiyappan (Vijayakumar), who single-handedly saves his innocent villagers from the arrogant and self-centered bad guys. All-in-all, it’s a feel-good movie of good winning over evil.

Sivaraman lives for the welfare of his village people. But his family was forced to leave the village because of Mokkaiyan’s (Manivannan) family. Free of Sivaraman’s presence, the villains start their reign of tyranny. Manivannan, Raj Kapoor, Bobby and Rajasekhar Reddy play Mokkaiyan, Silandhy Karuppu, Peruchali Karuppu and Konda Mookan respectively.

The rude Mokkaiyan and his sons Silandhy Karuppu and Peruchali Karuppu capture the lands of poor villagers and lease them to the rich bad guy Konda Mookan, the MLA. At this juncture the village people remember the good deeds of Sivaraman and repentant, they set off in search of him.

They bring him back to his own village to help them fight the bad guys. No prizes for guessing who wins at the end, but the climax is interesting in HOW the villains get their just desserts.

The movie has good music from Srikanth Deva. The dialogues expose the present political condition of the state. Being a mass hero, the songs in the movie are hero-oriented. The movie will be a real treat to Vijaykant fans and is sure to capture audience at rural areas.

Vijaykant's success and dedication to his political work in such a short time is admirable and this film is definitely going to make a mark for him.

Multi-talented Perarasu has directed the movie, written the lyrics and also sung a song in the movie. Of course, don’t forget the trademark cameo role on-screen. One thing the movie has achieved is put Vijaykanth firmly on the political map – his propaganda is apparent and a foil in a state best known for 2 very old warring factions in politics.

Lakshmi Rai is back, romancing “Captain” and singing songs with him. Glamorous and quite the eye-candy of the film, she is very noticeable. The screenplay is based on a village near Dharmapuri.
