The release timing of a movie largely decides its box office result. The makers of Manikanda would definitely be more than happy about the movie's release, and have left the collections to destiny.
This movie was made long ago and is being released only now. Jyotika's look stands as the biggest testimony for the age of the film.
The story is narrated around the two biggest personalities of a village, namely Manikanda (Arjun) and P. Vasu. Things move smoothly until the government announces the village as a reserved constituency for women.
Vasu, the baddie doesn't want any competitors, but the hero, full of noble intentions, makes an educated woman compete. Vasu lashes out in anger and Arjun is killed in the revolt.
Hard to believe, but after a few years, Raja (Arjun again) comes to town. He learns about the mishap and is seeks justice.
Though the storyline sounds familiar, the work of the experienced artists and technicians would have been better rewarded, if only the movie had been released on time.
Arjun has done an exceptionally good job in both roles. But how are the two avatars explained? See the movie to find out.
Jyotika looks younger (but obviously) and appealing, as usual. She plays the role of Raja'a love interest. Vadivelu has handled the comedy track but his role is unexciting.
Senthil Kumar has done a neat job behind the lens and Deva's music sounds repetitive.
