After doing a series of serious movies, Prasanna, who thrives on a romantic image has attempted humour in Seena Thaana 001. The movie is predominantlly humourous along with graceful addition of sentiment and romance. It is a remake of the Malayalam movie CID Moosa, starring Dileep and Bhavana.

Police constable Delhi Ganesh has ambitions that his son Tamizharasu (Prasanna) should become a police officer. Sub-inspector Manivannan, a relative of Tamizharasu, dislikes this and does all sorts of things to make him fail in the process of selection.

Fed up, Tamizharasu changes direction and starts a detective agency, 'CID Seena Thaana' with Seenichhaami (Vadivelu) and Ilavarasu.

The fledgling agency stumbles upon its first project - the assassination plot of the Governor.

Tamizharasu gathers information that the local inspector Gowri Shankar (Riaz Khan) is also involved in the conspiracy.

The story deals with how Tamizharasu tracks down the criminals and achieves his goal...

Shiela (Shiela) comes from Delhi to take care of her grandparents. The hero makes comments and jokes at her cost, assuming she does not understand Tamil, which she actually does. Their casual banter results in mutual love.

Vadivelu handles his role with an aloof superiority in the movie. With his apt body language and dialogue timing, his comedy works well and brings out the desired effect.

Prasanna has performed his role well and has given his best to the situational comedy that he shares with Vadivelu all through the movie. Shiela looks perfect, youthful and lovely. Director T.P. Gajendran has acted in a significant role.

The cast includes includes Visu, Riaz Khan, Kasan Khan, Ilavarasu, Delhi Ganesh, and Manivannan among others.

Cinematography is by Rajarajan. Song sequences are shot at Kerala, Chalakudi and Nellaiyampathi. Screenplay, dialogues and direction are by T.P. Gajendran. Music for Seena Thaana 001 is by Deva.

On the whole, the comedy in the film stands out and is very enjoyable.
