Srikanth's long delayed Rasikkum Seemane finally graced the theatres on Feb 12. The film is directed by R.K. Vidhyadharan of Vaitheeswaran fame and stars Srikanth and Navya Nair in the lead roles. The film, produced by Thirumalai, was earlier titled Ettappan. Since, there were some protests from the Ettappan community, the title was changed to Rasikkum Seemane.

The Plot

Rasikkum Seemane begins with two schoolboys Nandu and Arvind fighting for a girl Gayathri. The young girl stops their fight and declares that she will love the one who becomes a doctor. After some time, Gayathri and her family migrate to another city and Nandu faces a series of disasters; his father commits suicide after killing his mother. Nandu is now taken under the care of his father's close friend Guru (R.K. Vidhyadharan), a blackmailer by profession.

Fast forward to the present age. Nandu (Srikanth) becomes a brilliant blackmailer who dares to empty VIPs' pockets with ease until his childhood sweetheart Gayatri (Navya Nair) pops up. Adding more confusion is the fact that Gayatri has already met Arvind (Aravind Akash) who is now a doctor. The rest of the story is about how an insecure Nanda tries everything possible to keep Gayatri and Arvind away from each other with his drastic actions.

The Performances

Rasikkum Seemane lacks a strong storyline. The dragging screenplay is yet another drawback of the film. Musical score by Vijay Anthony is not impressive. M.V. Panneerselvam's camera makes a great effort to bring some zip to the proceedings and Suresh M. Koti's editing could have been better. Navya Nair does justice to her role while Aravind Akash is okay.

Srikanth is not impressive as compared to his performance in Roja Kootam and Poo. Director Vidhyadharan fails to impress.

The Verdict

On the whole, the story lacks substance and the dragging narration tests one's patience.
