Thirupathi produced by the famous AVM production as their 167th film is another commercial masala in the Director Perarasu style. Besides being a fiery action entertainment, the movie is also message driven. The message of the movie is why pay a hefty sum for child births while the government provides the same for free. Ajith plays the part of an auto driver in the film.
At the outset, Ajith fans would be happy to have this movie under his kitty simply because the movie has been made by understanding the fans pulses. Thirupathi (Ajith) runs a small sound and lighting service, while Priya (Sadha) is a beautician who does her job at homes and functions. Thirupathi’s family includes his dad, mom and a younger brother (Harish Ragavendra) while his younger sister (Deepu) is married. Thirupathi Sound Service is run by Thirupathi and his group of four friends.
Thirupathi’s closest friend is Muthu (Riaz Khan) who is the son of the state home minister (Pyramid Natarajan). Thirupathi’s commitment to this friendship goes beyond everything in the world. Once while Thirupathi takes his pregnant sister to the hospital for delivery, half way through, he is called by Muthu for some urgency. Leaving his sister to continue in the auto towards hospital, he goes to meet Muthu. Due to the carelessness and greed for money by the doctor treating his sister, she dies unfortunately.
Later Thirupathi discovers that the doctor is Muthu’s brother. While he has a tiff with him regarding the same, Muthu intervenes and humiliates Thirupathi. Here their friendship takes a different turn.
From here on, how Thirupathi creates a sequence of situations where Muthu goes against his own brother and how he kills his brother and by doing this, how Thirupathi plans the whole revenge plot forms the rest of the story.
Ajith has handled his stunt and dance sequences very well. Succeeding Paramasivan, he has treated us with a very good action packed wholesome entertainment. Sadha though plays a small part, has done full justice to her role. Some of the commendable performances include the acting of Arun Pandian (plays the role of a cop), Riaz Khan and Pyramid Natarajan. Comedy has been hilariously handled by the budding Kanja Karuppu and the veteran M.S. Bhaskar. Bharadwaj's Music gels well with the script and one of the highlights is the special appearance in one of the songs by Laila. Thalapathi Dinesh's stunts are a treat to watch and so is the cinematography by Saravanan.
In conclusion, it is a film made for the die hard Ajith fans with eye-catching dialogues and is a family entertainer.
